Who does the work

Rajiv Menon CA

Principal. Chartered Accountant and registered tax agent.

Rajiv meets every new client and reviews every return and set of accounts. Nothing is lodged until he has signed it off.

Registered with the Tax Practitioners Board

To charge for tax agent services, an accountant or their firm has to be registered with the Tax Practitioners Board. Rajiv is, and you can check any tax agent on the board’s public register.

Check the TPB register

Hartley Moss is fictional, so you won’t find Rajiv there.

CA is a separate check. It means Rajiv is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. A software badge is neither registration nor membership.

If something goes wrongTell Rajiv first, and he’ll reply in writing. You can also complain to the Tax Practitioners Board.

Changing accountants

You don’t start from scratch. Here’s how the move works.

  1. 1

    Book a first meeting

Tell us who’s involved: you, your business, any company or trust. We also check your ID.

  2. 2

    Agree the work in writing

Our engagement letter sets out the work and the fee. Nothing starts until you’ve signed it.

  3. 3

    We ask for your records

With your written OK, we ask your previous accountant for copies of past returns and accounts.

  4. 4

Companies, trusts and partnerships: nominate us with the ATO

The ATO needs you to do this yourself. Your agent can’t do it for you, so we send you the steps.

    Read the ATO’s steps

We never need your myGov or ATO login. Please don’t send it to us.

Switching changes who prepares your work. It doesn’t change what the ATO decides.

New client? What to bring

  • Photo ID, for our identity check
  • Anything showing what you earned: wages, interest, dividends
  • Receipts for anything you think you can claim. We’ll tell you what counts.
  • Rent received and paid out, for each rental property
  • Last year’s return, if someone else did it

Keep these out of the enquiry form and emailYour tax file number, bank details and ID. Tax file numbers have their own legal rules, so we collect them through the portal once you’re a client.

Questions people ask

How much will my tax return cost?

From $240 including GST, which covers a return with wages, interest, dividends and your receipts. Each rental property adds $150. If you’ve sold shares, crypto or property, or have income from overseas, we quote first. You agree the fee before we start.

Are you taking new clients?

Yes. The booking form shows the times we have free, or call Kirsty on (03) 5550 0258.

Can you help with overdue returns or an ATO letter?

Yes. Tell us how many years are outstanding, what records you have, and whether the ATO has written to you. We quote after a first look. We can’t promise what the ATO will decide about penalties, but we’ll tell you where you stand.

Can we do it all online?

Yes. Meet by phone or video, upload through the portal and sign online. We still need to check your ID, and we’ll explain how when you book. If you’d rather use paper, bring it in.

When will I get my refund?

Once we have everything, we aim to have your return ready for you to approve within two weeks. After we lodge it, the timing is up to the ATO, and we can’t speed it up. If you owe tax instead, you’ll know before we lodge.

Do you work with my software and bookkeeper?

We work in Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks, and happily alongside your bookkeeper. If you don’t use software yet, we can set it up with you.

Who sees my information?

Only the three of us. Documents come through the portal, not email, and we don’t share your affairs without your OK unless the law requires it.
