You’ll see Daniel, every time.
Daniel sees every client himself, so the person you talk to on your first visit is the person who treats you after that.

Daniel is fictional, so you won’t find him there. On a real site this goes to his own entry.
Your first visit, in the order it happens.
60 minutes, $150. Nothing happens that you haven’t heard about first.
1Two chairs, one conversation
We start sitting down, at the same height, with the door closed. What brings you in, how long it’s been going on, your health history and any medicines you take.
2Daniel asks, and looks
Questions about sleep, digestion and energy are part of how an acupuncturist assesses. He may feel your pulse at the wrist and look at your tongue. It helps him plan; it isn’t a medical diagnosis.
3You decide
He tells you what he suggests and why: where the needles would go, about how many, and for how long. If you’d rather not have needles, the visit can end with the talk.

4Treatment, if you want it
You lie or sit on the table under a warm blanket, mostly dressed. If cupping is part of the plan, Daniel explains it first. He stays in the room or just outside the door, and you can call him back at any moment.
5Before you leave
What you might notice over the next day or two, what to call about, and when it makes sense to look again at how it’s going.
Does it hurt?
You’ll feel something. Here’s what, honestly, and what you can do about it.
- Going in
A quick, small prick, or sometimes very little.
- While they’re in
Some people feel a dull ache, warmth, heaviness or tingling near a needle. If anything feels sharp or wrong, say so and Daniel adjusts it or takes it out.
- Afterwards
A small bruise or a little soreness where a needle was can happen. Daniel tells you what to watch for, and when to call.
You can pause or stop at any point, for any reason, and you don’t have to explain.
If needles make you nervous
- Tell Marg when you book, and Daniel will plan around it.
- Start with the talk only, and decide another day.
- Ask for fewer needles, in for less time.
- Sit up instead of lying down.
- Bring someone. There’s a chair in the room for them.
- Watch each needle come out of its sealed, single-use pack.
What people come to see Daniel about
Most people come about pain that has hung around, often alongside care from their GP or physio.
- A sore back that’s lasted months
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Headaches that keep coming back
- Aching knees, hips and hands
The honest limits
- Acupuncture doesn’t suit everyone or every problem. If Daniel doesn’t think it’s worth trying for yours, he’ll tell you at the first visit.
- It sits alongside your GP’s care, not instead of it. Keep taking what you’ve been prescribed.
- We look again at how it’s going after a few visits. If it isn’t helping, we change the plan or stop.
- We don’t provide urgent care. For anything sudden or severe, see your GP or call 000.
Not sure if yours fits? Call (03) 5550 0874 and Marg will book you a short call back from Daniel.
Fees, in full
Each fee is the total for the appointment, before any health fund rebate.
- First visit60 minutes$150
The conversation, the assessment and your first treatment.
- Return visit45 to 60 minutes$110
Treatment, starting with how the last one went.
- Reassessment60 minutes$130
Every few visits, or when something changes: a longer look at whether it’s helping, and what to do next.
Cupping is only ever part of an assessed treatment, and it’s included in the fee. It isn’t an extra you buy.
Health funds, Medicare and the NDIS
Private health extras Depends on your policy
Acupuncture is an extras service on many policies. Whether yours pays, how much, and any waiting period or annual limit depend on your policy, so check with your fund. Bring your card and we claim on the spot; you pay the difference.
Medicare Not here
Medicare pays towards acupuncture only when a medical practitioner provides it. Daniel is a registered acupuncturist, not a medical practitioner, so there’s no Medicare rebate at Mallee Thread.
NDIS Not here
The NDIS doesn’t fund alternative and complementary therapies as therapy supports, so we can’t bill acupuncture to an NDIS plan.

Marg looks after appointments, fund claims and payments. She can’t give clinical advice, but she can book you a call back from Daniel.

What should I wear?
Something loose and comfortable, so sleeves and trouser legs roll up easily. You stay as dressed as you can, under a blanket.
What should I bring?
A list of the medicines you take, any reports from your GP or specialist, and your health fund card if you have extras cover.
How many visits will I need?
There’s no set course. Daniel suggests a plan at your first visit and you look at it together at a reassessment. If it isn’t helping, you stop.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes. There’s a chair for them in the room, and they can stay the whole time.
Do you see children?
We see people aged 16 and over. Anyone under 18 comes with a parent or guardian, who stays in the room.
What happens to my health information?
It’s collected to care for you, with your consent, and kept in our booking system’s secure records. We don’t share it without your permission unless the law requires it. Please leave health details out of email.
