Medical practice marketing and SEO Medical practice marketing for the patients you have room for.
Patients pick a GP on three things: how close, whether they’ll be bulk billed and how soon they can be seen. Joseph makes those true and easy to find on Google, healthdirect and your site, written with Ahpra’s advertising guidelines in mind.
The call is free. If marketing isn’t worth it for you yet, Joseph will say so.

Bulk Billing and Fees | Lydiard Corner Medical, Ballarat
Who we bulk bill, what everyone else pays for a standard or long consult, and which GPs are taking new patients. Book online.
- 1Google AdsThe top of the page, from the day it goes live.
- 2Google profileThe map and the places under it, where most local customers choose.
- 3Blogs and contentThe questions people ask before they’re ready to book.
- 4Website SEOThe results under them, and what AI answers say about you.
How patients choose a GP.
Patients rank a close location, bulk billing and getting in soon far ahead of reviews. These are the five searches where those three facts get checked, and what wins each.
-
bulk billing doctor near me
Bulk billing: one sentence, the same everywhere.
People filter by billing before they look at names, and the government now sends them to healthdirect’s Service Finder to do it. Your billing said in one plain sentence, identical on your Google profile, healthdirect and your site, with no booking fee on a bulk-billed visit, is what gets the tap.

doctor accepting new patients
Taking new patients: the question your front desk answers all day.
Someone new to town rings clinic after clinic until one says yes. Saying which GPs are taking new patients on your site and your profile, and changing it the day it changes, turns those calls into bookings and stops the ones you’d have to turn away.

gp open now
Open now: hours that are right on the day.
Someone unwell at 5:40pm picks from the map by what’s open. Correct hours, public holidays included, and a plain line on where your patients go after hours decide whether they book with you or the walk-in clinic across town.

skin check near me
Skin checks are searched by service, not by clinic.
So are care plans, children’s vaccinations and travel health. A page for each, saying which GPs do them, how long they take and what they cost, wins the search, then ads for the ones with room in the book. Each GP described by what they do, never as a ‘skin cancer specialist’.

female gp near me
Women’s health: they’re choosing a doctor, not a clinic.
For contraception, pregnancy care or a women’s health check, patients pick the GP first. A profile for each doctor with what they do most and the days they work, linked straight to their book on HotDoc or HealthEngine, wins it. Every Google listing for that GP should land on the same booking page.

Ahpra and the Medical Board
Written with Ahpra’s advertising guidelines in mind.
GPs are registered with the Medical Board, so the National Law’s advertising rules reach your site, your Google profile, your ads and even your recall texts. Everything we write, post and run for you is written with them in mind.
- Your Google rating shown as a number, never review quotes, a reviews widget or a link to the reviews.
- ‘Specialist general practitioner’ only for a GP who holds that registration, and no ‘skin cancer specialist’ or ‘surgeon’.
- Bulk billing described exactly as you do it, in one sentence, with no dollar figures to go stale.
- No prescription medicines named or hinted at: ‘influenza vaccines available’ with no brand, ‘weight management consults’, never ‘weight-loss injections’.
- Recalls kept clinical, and practice news like flu clinics or a new GP sent only to patients who opted in.
- No outcome promises, no fear lines and no freebies for booking in.
The first three months.
What Joseph would usually do first for a medical centre. If your GPs are already full, he starts with access and recalls, not ads.
Weeks 1 to 2
One billing sentence, everywhere
Your bulk billing position written once and matched across your Google profile, healthdirect, HotDoc or HealthEngine and your site. Hours, after-hours and public holidays checked.
Weeks 2 to 4
Every GP findable
Each doctor’s title checked against the Ahpra register, a profile for each with what they do most and their days, and every Google listing for them pointed at the same booking page.
Months 2 to 3
Pages for the consults you want more of
Skin checks, women’s health, children’s health, care plans: a page each, for the suburbs your patients come from. Ads only for a GP or a service with room in the book.
Every month
Reviews, the map and a report
Every review answered without a word about anyone’s care, the map checked from the streets your patients live in, and what moved in plain words.
Every listing points back to your website.
Google, healthdirect and every ad send patients to your site. If it doesn’t show who’s bulk billed, which GPs are taking new patients and how to book, on a phone, they ring the desk instead, or the next clinic. If yours needs work, Joseph rebuilds your homepage free first, and you see it before you decide anything.

How much does medical practice marketing cost?
With bdog, from $449 a month +GST for Google profile management. Website SEO is from $1,300 a month, and Google Ads management is from $600 a month plus your ad spend. Joseph quotes the mix for your practice after a 15-minute call.
What is medical SEO for a GP clinic?
Making your medical centre the one Google shows when people nearby search for a GP, a bulk billing doctor or a consult like a skin check: your Google profile and healthdirect listing for the map, and pages on your site for billing, each GP and each service.
Is healthcare marketing worth it if our GPs are already full?
Often not, and Joseph will say so. If the books are full, more patients just means longer waits. Medical marketing then is about the gaps: a new GP’s empty sessions, after-hours, longer consults, or the services you want more of.
Can doctors show their Google reviews on the website?
Not as testimonials. Ahpra’s guidelines treat quoted reviews and review widgets on your site as testimonials in your advertising. Your overall rating and review count can be shown as a number, with no review text and no link to the reviews.
Do Google Ads work for doctor marketing?
They suit searches from people ready to book: ‘GP’ and your suburb, after-hours, skin checks, or a new GP with room. Google doesn’t allow prescription medicine terms in Australian ads, and we never remarket to anyone based on the conditions they read about. Joseph checks what clicks cost in your area before the call.
We already take bookings on HotDoc. Do we still need this?
HotDoc and HealthEngine take bookings from people who are already on them. Plenty of patients start on Google instead, where the map and your own pages decide which clinic they book with. Joseph looks at where you show up before the call. If it’s working, he’ll tell you to leave it.
