What we look at for a counselling practice.

The details are different for every profession.

Why it’s free

It’s the quickest way for you to judge our work, and it’s the first step of building your site anyway. If you go ahead, the rebuild becomes your homepage.

  • Your voice

A homepage in your voice, not a therapy template.

  • Your approach

Your approach, qualifications and professional registration.

  • Getting started

What a first session involves and how to get in touch.

  • Session options

Online and in-person options, fees and the funding you accept.

  • Crisis information

    Crisis information on every page.

A website with a person behind it.

Scroll to watch a homepage rebuilt, then see why each piece is where it is.

An illustrative before. The practice is fictional.Vivienne Tang Counselling is a fictional practice. Open the Live Example (opens in a new tab)

  1. A site-builder page, with a pop-up on top.

    • A mailing list pop-up covers the page before anyone has read it.
    • Booking is somewhere under More.
    • The phone number and the hours are at the bottom, as plain text.
  2. The same practice, rebuilt.

What was worth keeping is kept. Everything else is rebuilt around it.

  3. First person, because one person does the work.

    • “Hi, I’m Vivienne. This is a place to talk things through.”
    • It says who this is for without deciding what the visitor needs.
    • Nothing on the page promises how counselling will turn out.
  4. A lower first step than booking a session.

    • A free fifteen-minute call, with no obligation to book anything after it.
    • Someone who isn’t ready to commit still has somewhere to go.
    • The sentence under the button says exactly what the call is for.
  5. The approach, translated into a session.

    • A modality name matters to the person searching for it, but it isn’t the whole explanation.
    • This describes how sessions are structured and how goals get discussed.
    • Specific language, with no promised result.
  6. The number, beside the session length.

    • Every fee is on the page, so nobody has to enquire to learn the price.
    • Cancellation terms sit with the fee rather than three clicks away.
    • Appointment types are separated only where the practice actually offers them.
  7. The practical unknowns, filled in.

    • How long the appointment is, what arrives beforehand and how the next step is agreed.
    • Nothing scripts what a client must disclose, or pretends the same experience suits everyone.
    • Further appointments are described as discussed, not assumed.
  8. The limits of the service, made clear.

    • An appointment-based practice isn’t a crisis service, and the page says so.
    • Real crisis contacts are visible without turning the page into an alarm.
    • It also says whether messages are monitored, and when.

The advertising rules are different for you. Counsellors and psychotherapists aren’t registered under the National Law, so the testimonial ban that applies to psychologists doesn’t apply to you.

  1. Live within 14 days of sign-off, or your first month back.

  2. Nothing to pay until you’ve approved your design.

  3. Your old site stays up for 30 days after. Switch back for any reason and your website fees are refunded in full.

Switching in

You forward two or three logins: your domain, your booking system, and your current host if you have one. We move the content, wire the booking system, set up redirects so Google keeps sending people to the right pages, and put it live. Your part is under an hour, total.

Switching back

Your old site stays where it is for 30 days after the new one goes live. If you’d rather have it back, for any reason, tell us and we point your domain at it the same day. You’re refunded in full and the care plan stops.

The advertising rules

  • Client testimonials, within PACFA’s guidelines

Allowed when they’re truthful and carry a permission statement.

  • Feedback a client chose to give, never feedback asked of a current client

The line we hold is the one the profession holds.

  • Nothing that implies psychologist status or Medicare eligibility

You approve everything before it goes live.

All Questions, Answered

The free rebuild

Why is it free?

It’s the fastest way for you to judge our work without committing to anything, and it’s step one of your site if you go ahead. The rebuild becomes your homepage.

Is it just a template?

No. It’s built from your practice’s own services, team, hours and booking setup, on a structure we’ve tested for counselling practices. Joseph reviews every decision before it reaches you, and the video explains each one.

Do I have to talk to anyone?

No. You get the rebuild and the video by email and watch in your own time. If you’d rather talk, Joseph’s number is at the bottom of the page.

What happens to the rebuild if I say no?

Nothing. Keep the ideas and use them however you like. The preview link closes after 14 days, and we don’t publish it or show it to anyone without your permission.

We already have a web developer. Does that matter?

Not for the rebuild. Plenty of practices use it to see what’s possible before deciding who builds it. If you go ahead with us, we handle the move and your developer doesn’t need to be involved.

Going ahead

Will it work with our booking system?

Yes. We wire into Halaxy, Cliniko, Zanda, coreplus or Splose. If you speak with new clients before booking them in, we build an enquiry route instead.

How much work is this for me?

Send your address, watch a two-minute video, say yes or no. If yes, forward the logins we ask for. We do the rest, including talking to your current host or booking provider if something needs untangling.

What happens to my current site?

Nothing, for 30 days. It stays live on its existing host so it’s there if you want it back. After that you can cancel the old hosting, or we’ll do it with you.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

We map every page on your old site to the right page on the new one before we switch, so links and search results keep landing somewhere sensible. Rankings move for all sorts of reasons, but a redirect map is what stops a move from being one of them.

What if I don’t like it once it’s live?

Say so within 30 days. We point your domain back at your old site, refund your website fees in full, and stop the care plan. No form, no reason required.

What’s the catch with the 12 months?

The first year pays off the build in monthly instalments, so there’s no large upfront cost. After 12 months the price drops to the care rate. If you leave early, you pay out the build that remains, and we hand over your content and design files.

Who owns the site?

Your domain, content and photos are yours from the start. The site runs on our platform, which is how it stays fast, secure and looked after. After month 12 we’ll export everything whenever you ask.
