What we look at for a criminal law firm.

The details are different for every profession.

Why it’s free

It’s the quickest way for you to judge our work, and it’s the first step of building your site anyway. If you go ahead, the rebuild becomes your homepage.

  • What just happened

Police contact, a charge, custody or a court date, each its own route.

  • A fast, private way in

A phone line first, a safe callback time, and honest hours.

  • Fees by stage

Bail, a plea and a hearing priced as different jobs.

  • Legal aid, honestly

What it may cover, and that eligibility is decided elsewhere.

  • Who will act

Named lawyers, with accreditation only where it’s held.

A site for someone who has just had a call from the police.

An illustrative before. The practice is fictional.Cheung Hale Criminal Lawyers is a fictional practice. Open the Live Example (opens in a new tab)

  1. Built for a desktop. Opened on a phone.

    • The whole page shrinks to fit the screen, so nothing can be read without zooming.
    • The phone number is there, but far too small to tap.
    • Booking means finding a contact form link in the third column.
  2. The same business, rebuilt.

What was worth keeping is kept. Everything else is rebuilt around it.

  3. Plain links, in plain words.

    • Police contact, a charge, custody, a court date and an AVO are listed as plain links.
    • People find their situation without knowing the legal term.
    • Each one says what to do first.
  4. A phone line first, with the hours it’s answered.

    • Someone in custody or in court soon is sent to the phone.
    • The hours the phone is answered are stated plainly.
    • A relative can call for someone who can’t.
  5. Private, short, and what it costs.

    • The first conversation and its cost are stated.
    • A safe callback time and voicemail permission are asked.
    • The form asks for very little.
  6. Bail, a plea and a hearing, priced apart.

    • Bail and a guilty plea show a starting price including GST and what it covers.
    • Hearings are quoted after the brief is read.
    • No conditional or success fees, because they aren’t allowed in criminal matters.
  7. What it may cover, and who decides.

    • Legal aid is explained as conditional.
    • The firm’s own position on aid matters is stated plainly.
    • Nobody is told they will or won’t qualify.
  8. Named lawyers, with a register link.

    • Each lawyer is named with their role.
    • A link to the Law Society register sits beside the bios.
    • No “specialist” unless it’s conferred.

Written inside the rules lawyers advertise under. Every site is written without promised outcomes, success rates or bail guarantees, with “accredited specialist” used only where it has been conferred, and with fees shown by stage, including GST.

  3. Your old site stays up for 30 days after. Switch back for any reason and your website fees are refunded in full.

Switching in

You forward two or three logins: your domain, your current host, and your booking or enquiry system if you use one. We move the content, connect that system, set up redirects so Google keeps sending people to the right pages, and put it live. Your part is under an hour, total.

Switching back

Your old site stays where it is for 30 days after the new one goes live. If you’d rather have it back, for any reason, tell us and we point your domain at it the same day. You’re refunded in full and the care plan stops.

The advertising rules

Written inside the rules lawyers advertise under.

Solicitors’ advertising answers to the conduct rules and the Australian Consumer Law, and criminal law adds limits on publishing anything that identifies the people in a case.

Read the Advertising Guides

  • Nothing that promises an outcome

No “we’ll get you off”, no success rates, no bail guarantees.

  • “Accredited specialist” only where it’s held

And only for the solicitor who holds it.

  • Fees by stage, including GST

Bail, a plea and a hearing priced as different jobs.

  • No client stories

Publication limits protect the people in a case.

You stay responsible for what your firm advertises, and we make it easier to get right.

All Questions, Answered

The free rebuild

Why is it free?

It’s the fastest way for you to judge our work without committing to anything, and it’s step one of your site if you go ahead. The rebuild becomes your homepage.

Is it just a template?

No. It’s built from your practice’s own services, team, hours and booking setup, on a structure designed for criminal law firms. Joseph reviews every decision before it reaches you, and the video explains each one.

Do I have to talk to anyone?

No. You get the rebuild and the video by email and watch in your own time. If you’d rather talk, Joseph’s number is at the bottom of the page.

What happens to the rebuild if I say no?

Nothing. Keep the ideas and use them however you like. The preview link closes after 7 days, and we don’t publish it or show it to anyone without your permission.

We already have a web developer. Does that matter?

Not for the rebuild. You can use it to see what’s possible before deciding who builds it. If you go ahead with us, we handle the move and your developer doesn’t need to be involved.

Going ahead

Will it work with our practice management system?

Enquiries go where your firm already works: into LEAP, Smokeball or Actionstep where your setup accepts web enquiries, or to your inbox. Nothing sensitive is collected on the site itself. We confirm how yours connects before you approve your design.

How much work is this for me?

Send your address, watch a two-minute video, say yes or no. If yes, forward the logins we ask for. We do the rest, including talking to your current host or booking provider if something needs untangling.

What happens to my current site?

Nothing, for 30 days. It stays live on its existing host so it’s there if you want it back. After that you can cancel the old hosting, or we’ll do it with you.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

We map every page on your old site to the right page on the new one before we switch, so links and search results keep landing somewhere sensible. Rankings move for all sorts of reasons, but a redirect map is what stops a move from being one of them.

What if I don’t like it once it’s live?

Say so within 30 days. We point your domain back at your old site, refund your website fees in full, and stop the care plan. No form, no reason required.

What’s the catch with the 12 months?

The first year pays off the build in monthly instalments, so there’s no large upfront cost. After 12 months the price drops to the care rate. If you leave early, you pay out the build that remains, and we hand over your content and design files.

Who owns the site?

Your domain, content and photos are yours from the start. The site runs on our platform, which is how it stays fast, secure and looked after. Once the build is paid off, at month 12 or up front, we’ll export everything whenever you ask.
