Four Sydney venues, one group.

Joseph built the websites for Camelia Grove, The Strand, Oxford House and The Norfolk, four venues in one Sydney hospitality group. Each one is built around how its guests book.

What a pub homepage needs on a phone.

Guests arrive with one of five jobs: book a room, book a table or read the menu, ask about a function, see what’s on, or find the hours. Each should take two taps.

  1. The first screen

What the place is, where it is, and the two bookings that matter. No slideshow, no popup.

  2. Today

One line of today’s hours, and anything that’s closed, so nobody makes a wasted trip.

  3. Eat and drink

Each bar or dining room with its hours, its menu as a page rather than a PDF, and Book a Table.

  4. Stay

Each room type with a photo, the beds and a from price, and why it pays to book direct.

  5. What’s on

This week only, each with a day and a time. Last month’s trivia night costs you trust.

  6. Functions

Every space with its seated and standing numbers, then one short enquiry form.

  7. Find us

Address, map, phone and the full hours, before the footer.

And a bar along the bottom of the phone with Book a Table, Book a Room and Enquire, there all the way down.

What the travel sites take.

Every room booked through Booking.com or Expedia costs you a commission. Every guest who books on your own site instead is one you don’t pay it on.

Your commission is set in your contract with each site; around 15 per cent is common in Australia, and some pay more for better placement. Parity clauses can stop you showing a lower public rate on your own website, so a book-direct page wins on what the travel sites can’t offer: breakfast, a late checkout, flexible cancellation, a better room.

$4,950a month in commission, or $59,400 a year.

Three steps. Only the last one costs anything.

All Questions, Answered

Pubs and hotels

Does it work with SiteMinder, Little Hotelier, Mews, SevenRooms, OpenTable or Now Book It?

Yes. Your Book a Room and Book a Table buttons go straight into the system you already use, so bookings land where they do now, and linking them is included. Building a booking engine or table booking into the page itself, rather than linking to it, is quoted first.

Will this get us off Booking.com and Expedia?

No website can, and you probably wouldn’t want it to: they find guests you’d never reach. What a good homepage does is make booking direct the easy choice for everyone who already knows your name, with your direct perks right beside the button.

We run more than one venue. One site or several?

Either. Some groups want a site per venue, so each keeps its own name in Google; others want one group site with a page for each venue. Joseph works out which suits you on the call, and it’s quoted from there.

Who keeps the menus, what’s on and function packs up to date?

Email the change and it’s done, usually within two business days, as part of your monthly fee. Menus and function packs go on as pages rather than PDFs, so they read on a phone and turn up in Google.

Can you run ads for our functions and rooms?

Yes. Marketing starts from $500 a month +GST, quoted after a call with Joseph: your Google Business Profile, search, and Google and Meta ads for functions and rooms. Ad spend is separate. Any ad that mentions drinks follows Liquor & Gaming NSW’s rules on promotions.

The free rebuild

What happens after I send my address?

Within two business days you get your homepage rebuilt for a phone, a two-minute video from Joseph and a short list of what changed.

Do I have to talk to anyone?

No. Everything arrives by email and you watch it in your own time. If you’d rather talk, call Joseph on 0452 424 845.

What happens to my current site?

Nothing, for 30 days. It stays live on its existing host so it’s there if you want it back. After that you can cancel the old hosting, or we’ll do it with you.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

We map every page on your old site to the right page on the new one before we switch, so links and search results keep landing somewhere sensible. Rankings move for all sorts of reasons, but a redirect map is what stops a move from being one of them.
