Wix pricing in Australia: what each plan really costs

Google shows Australians US prices. Here are the AUD prices Wix actually charges, the limits that decide which plan you need, the fees that only show up in the fine print, and a calculator for your year.

Wix plans for Australia, billed yearly with GST: Light AU$21, Core AU$42, Business AU$55, Business Elite AU$199 a month.

Search "Wix pricing" from Australia and nearly every answer on the first page, Google's own AI summary included, gives you US prices: $17 to $159 a month. That isn't what Wix charges Australians. Open the plans page here and it shows AU$21 to AU$199 a month, GST included, for a year paid up front. And that's still not the whole bill, because Wix's own payment service doesn't work in Australia, a couple of its fees only show up in the fine print, and its pages contradict each other about .com.au domains.

The short answer
  • Plans, billed yearly, GST includedLight AU$21, Core AU$42, Business AU$55, Business Elite AU$199 a month. Paid as a year up front: AU$252, AU$504, AU$660 or AU$2,388.
  • The cheapest plan that takes bookings or paymentsCore. Light has neither.
  • On topCard fees through Stripe, Square or PayPal, a Wix fee of 4% (Core) or 2% (Business) on memberships and class packs, and your domain and email.

One disclosure first. I build websites for Australian businesses on subscription, so I sell an alternative to Wix and I'm not neutral. That's why everything below comes from Wix's own plans page, comparison table and help centre, read from Sydney on 11 October 2026, plus the payment providers' Australian pricing pages. Where Wix doesn't publish something, I say so.

Wix plans and prices in Australia

Wix's plans page shows Australian visitors prices in Australian dollars, with "Price includes GST" under each. The footnote says they're "for yearly subscriptions, paid in full at the time of purchase". So "AU$42 a month" means AU$504 on your card on day one.

The bottom rows come from Wix's full comparison table, which you have to expand to see. That's where the limits that decide your plan are.

Monthly billing and longer terms

Wix's billing help says you can also pay monthly, or every two or three years. Its plans page doesn't show those prices in Australia; they appear at checkout, after you sign in. Wix's own advice is "For best value, we recommend our yearly or multi-year plans", so expect monthly billing to cost more each month. I haven't printed a monthly figure because I couldn't see one in Australian dollars.

No free trial, 14 days to change your mind

Wix says plainly: "We do not offer a free trial for Premium plans, but there is a 14-day money-back guarantee". The free plan is the trial, in effect. Each plan covers one site.

The free plan

Wix's free plan puts Wix branding and sometimes ads on your site, uses a yourname.wixsite.com address, and can't take payments or bookings. Wix's own blog says to "accept online bookings, you'll need a Core plan or higher". It's fine for trying the editor, not for running a business on.

Which Wix plan you actually need

For most service businesses the choice is between Core and Business, and it comes down to four limits: who needs to log in, how many text reminders you send, whether you sell class packs or memberships, and whether you book rooms or equipment.

Find your plan in four questions

Two of those limits catch people out. Staff who need to log in to see their bookings use up your collaborator seats: Wix's bookings help says the number you can give access to "depends on your Wix Premium or Wix Studio plan". And 50 messages a month on Core is fewer than three a working day, which Wix also says is "shared across all Wix products". If your practice software already sends appointment reminders, this limit may not matter to you at all.

What Wix really costs a year

The plan is the part Wix advertises. Here's the rest.

Card payments: Wix Payments isn't available here

Most Wix pricing articles are written for the US and quote Wix Payments fees. Those don't apply to you. Wix's own list of countries for Wix Payments doesn't include Australia. An Australian Wix site takes cards through one of Wix's "third-party payment partners": for Australia that list includes Stripe, Square, PayPal, eWay, Fat Zebra and Afterpay. You open an account with that provider and pay its fees.

ProviderAustralian card, onlineWhat its page says
Stripe1.65% + A$0.30"Fees include GST". International cards 3.5% + A$0.30
Square2.2%Online store, online checkout and invoices. GST not stated
PayPal2.90% + A$0.30PayPal checkout. GST not stated

Scroll the table sideways to see every column.

Wix's own fee on memberships and packs

If you sell memberships, subscriptions or class packs through Wix Pricing Plans, Wix takes a cut: 4% on Core, 2% on Business, nothing on Business Elite. Wix says the fee applies "to all charges for pricing plans you sell, including one-time and recurring payments". The table doesn't say it replaces the card fee, so I've treated it as extra. A $200 ten-class pack sold on Core costs you $8 to Wix plus the card fee. Selling event tickets through Wix carries a separate "2.5% service fee", which Wix lets you pass on to attendees.

Your domain

Here Wix's own pages disagree. Its domain search, run from Sydney for a made-up business name, offered a .com.au at AU$17.82 a year and "Free for 1 year". But a Wix help article says "Currently, it is not possible to purchase an Australian (.au) domain from Wix or transfer one to Wix", and the list of extensions in the plans page's free-domain offer doesn't include .com.au. Another Wix article says you can't transfer an existing .com.au into Wix from another registrar.

The practical answer for most businesses: keep your .com.au where it is and connect it to Wix, which every paid plan allows. You keep paying your registrar for the domain. If you do try to buy a .com.au through Wix, check at checkout that it goes through and that the free year applies before you rely on it.

Business email

Wix's email is Google Workspace, resold. Its page says "Wix's professional business email plans aren't free", and the price only shows inside your account, so I can't give you a figure. Email and domains renew on their own cycle, and cancelling your plan doesn't cancel them: "Canceling your site plan does not cancel any domain, business email, or app subscriptions."

Apps

Some Wix apps are free and some charge their own monthly subscription. Add up any you need before you decide.

Work out your own Wix bill

Wix cost for a year

Plan prices include GST. Card fees as each provider publishes them. Domain and email are what you pay elsewhere or see in your Wix account.

Take a small physio clinic on Core taking 80 online deposits a month at $40 each through Stripe, and selling $6,000 a year of class packs. The plan is $504, Stripe's fees come to about $922 and Wix's 4% on packs is $240: about $1,666 a year before the domain and email, against the $504 headline. On Business the same clinic pays $660 and only $120 to Wix on packs, about $1,702. To be fair to Wix, the card fees are the same on any platform. What's specific to Wix is the plan, the pack fee and anything you buy through it.

Renewals, price rises and refunds

This is the part that leads to "Why did Wix charge me?" searches, and it's all in Wix's help centre.

  • Plans renew automatically. "All Premium plans and Studio plans renew automatically at the end of the subscription period."
  • Yearly plans are charged early. Up to three weeks before the anniversary, with reminder emails starting 30 days before the payment date.
  • Monthly plans don't warn you. "You will not receive an email notification before your subscription renews."
  • Sale prices don't last. "Any paid service that was purchased during a sale renews at the standard rate."
  • Price rises apply at renewal. Wix's article on its plan price changes says "The price update will apply to new subscriptions, as well as plan renewals."
  • No refund on a renewal. The 14-day money-back period covers new plans only, not "a plan renewal" or "the upgrade of an existing plan". Domains don't get it at all.
  • If you cancel after 14 days, the plan runs to the end of the billing cycle, then your site goes back to a free Wix address with Wix ads on it.
Before your Wix plan renews
  • Find the renewal date in your Wix billing page, and put a reminder in your calendar a month before it.
  • Check the renewal price, not the price you paid. A sale price renews at the standard rate.
  • Check the plan still fits. Logins, messages and the pack fee are the limits that matter.
  • List the domains, mailboxes and apps billed through Wix. They renew separately.
  • Add your ABN if you're GST-registered, then ask your accountant about the invoice.
  • If you're leaving, cancel and export what you need before the charge, not after.

GST and your ABN

Wix charges GST on its plans and apps in Australia, and the prices on its plans page include it. Its help article says a registered business with an ABN "may be eligible for a tax exemption": you add the ABN in the "ABN" field when you update your payment method. If you're GST-registered, do that, then check with your accountant whether the invoice Wix gives you is one you can claim a credit on. I couldn't find a Wix page that says.

Support, in Australian time

Wix's English callback service runs 24/7, and you ask for a call from inside your account; there's no public phone number. Live chat with a person runs "Monday-Friday 2AM-6PM EST", US Eastern time. In Sydney that's overnight, from late afternoon until the next morning depending on daylight saving, so in business hours you'll mostly be asking for a callback. Business Elite gets priority care.

Wix Studio plans

If a freelancer or agency builds your site, it may be on Wix Studio rather than the ordinary Wix editor, and Wix says a Studio site needs a Studio plan: "If your site is built in the Studio Editor, then you need to upgrade with a Studio plan." Studio plans, billed yearly, GST included, are Basic AU$18, Standard AU$29.99, Plus AU$47 and Elite AU$179 a month. Basic doesn't list accepting payments; Standard and up do. Ask your designer which one you're on and who's paying for it.

Don't expect a free ad voucher with your plan. What Wix describes is a Google Ads credit that "varies based on your location and currency", only for businesses new to Google advertising, and that "may expire if it is not used within Google's allowed timeframe". Don't count it as part of the price.

Is Wix worth it for an Australian business?

For a business owner who wants to build and edit the site themselves, Core at AU$504 a year is a fair price for hosting, security, bookings and payments in one place, and it's easier than most people expect. Where it gets expensive is Business Elite, or a business that sells a lot of packs on Core, or one that hits the login and message limits and has to step up a plan. If you're weighing it against WordPress, I've worked through both over three years in Wix vs WordPress, and if you're in health, why so many doctors use Wix covers the healthcare side. If you've already decided to go, leaving Wix covers what comes with you and how to keep your rankings.

Questions I get asked

How much is Wix in Australia?

Billed yearly with GST included: Light AU$21, Core AU$42, Business AU$55 and Business Elite AU$199 a month. That's AU$252, AU$504, AU$660 or AU$2,388 paid up front for the year.

Why did Wix charge me so much at once?

Yearly plans are charged in full, up to three weeks before the anniversary of your purchase, and renew automatically at the standard rate. Domains and email renew separately. Your Wix billing page shows what was charged and when.

Can I get a refund on a Wix renewal?

Wix's 14-day money-back guarantee covers new plans only. Its refund policy says it doesn't apply to renewals.

Does Wix Payments work in Australia?

No. Australia isn't on Wix's list of countries for Wix Payments. Australian sites take cards through providers such as Stripe, Square or PayPal, at those providers' rates.

Can I use a .com.au domain with Wix?

Yes, by connecting one you already own, on any paid plan. Wix's help centre says you can't transfer a .com.au in from another registrar, and its pages disagree about buying a new one through Wix.

Does Wix charge GST in Australia?

Yes. The prices on its plans page include GST. A GST-registered business can add its ABN in Wix billing and may be exempt.

Is there a free trial of Wix?

Not of the paid plans. You can build on the free plan, and new paid plans have a 14-day money-back guarantee.

About this guide

Written by Joseph Alzein, founder of bdog. I build websites for Australian businesses on subscription, so I sell an alternative to Wix, and Wix pays me nothing. Prices were read on Wix's plans page from Sydney on 11 October 2026, and the payment providers' fees from their Australian pricing pages the same day. Wix can change prices at renewal, so check your billing page.
